Do you remember the horror we felt on September 11th?
I was in NYC a month later to counsel with the Billy Graham Association. I saw the pile of rubble that was once the twin towers, I smelled the smouldering mangle of steel, concrete, and hundreds of burned offices, I felt small flakes still falling all around.
Today we are remembering those who died so that we can still live in freedom. On September 11th, terrorists tried to destroy all that those who went before us made possible for us. Freedom is too great to take for granted.
As Americans, our ability to work together for our common good, regardless of our economic level, our race, our religion, or our gender is one of the attributes that sets us apart from all others. If we have a problem, we work together to solve it, period. We discuss it, we disagree, we argue, but ultimately, we overcome our differences for the betterment of all of us.
May the Lord continue to bless our country with freedom.
